Loano

Halfway between Genoa and France, on Liguria’s “Palm Coast”, Loano is an ideal resort for both summer holidays and winter stays

Around the town of Loano there are many interesting places to discover, such as the nearby water park “Le Caravelle” in Ceriale, or the Genoa Aquarium, the largest marine life enclosure in Europe.

You can enjoy a stroll around the ancient Medieval city centre in Albenga, where you can also visit the Ingauno Civic Museum, the Roman Naval Museum and the Diocesan Museum of Sacred Art.

Another well-conserved village with Medieval origins is Toirano, where you can visit the Val Varatella Ethnographic Museum which narrates the traditional skills and trades of the townsfolk as well as visiting the famous grottoes with their related Prehistory Museum. In the old municipal offices of Bardino Nuovo above Tovo San Giacomo, there is the “G.B. Bergallo” Tower Clock Museum where monumental timepieces dating from the 1700s up until modern times are on display.

For handicraft enthusiasts, a visit to Altare is a must, the most important place in the region for glass crafts since Medieval times, where you can visit the fascinating Glass Museum.

Of course another idea could be to admire the beauty of the coast from the sea, fishing along the coasts of Varigotti, Noli, Gallinara island or discovering the wonderful seabed near Capo Noli.
